Sparta Day Kickoff!

This Saturday, May 30th, in conjunction with the Sparta Public Library, the high school will be introducing our community reading initiative called "A Tale for One City" to the residents of the community. Please join us in a community-wide reading of The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls.

Over the course of the summer, as we are all reading this great book, various community organizations and businesses will be holding special events such as guest speakers, book talks, book brunches and other theme events. If you are a business or organization who would love to participate in this event, please contact us at: Taleforonecity.sparta@gmail.com.

If you are a member of the community who would like to get involved just start by picking up a copy of The Glass Castle at Sparta Books. Additional copies have also been made available by the Sparta Library! Then, just follow this blog for updated information as the project unfolds. A calendar of events will soon be made available on this site.

  2. I agree that this is a bit confusing and there is little information on the SHS website.... and obviously there is no information on this blog site .... What are the events to be held "all summer long"?

  3. There are no worksheets that you have to complete while reading this book. Hopefully, that will allow you to read the novel at your leisure and enjoy it, rather than expecting that there is something that you have to complete.

There has been a request, like yours, for a list of discussion questions. I will make that available on this blog.

We are looking for some more interest from businesses tp hold events. Perhaps you could use this forum to post some ideas. What kind of events would you, as students, like to attend?
